Long Island Expressway HOV
The Long Island Expressway (LIE) High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes are reserved for use by passenger vehicles with two or more occupants, buses and motorcycles weekdays, during peak travel hours. HOV requirements are in effect about one-third of the day, between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. in the morning, and 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the evening. The HOV lanes are available to all other passenger vehicles at all other times. This lane offers a significant time savings to those who carpool.
