Poster and PSA Contest

It's back to the drawing board!

AAA's 62 nd annual National Traffic Safety Poster and Public Service Announcement Contest is now in progress! The program continues its primary aim of reducing traffic and pedestrian crashes, the No. 1 cause of death for children ages 2 to 14.

Students in kindergarten through grade 8 will illustrate an assigned safety category, under the supervision of dedicated educators and youth leaders.

Students in grades 9 through 12 will communicate their ideas on alcohol or drug awareness through graphic arts or audiovisual presentations. The process motivates participants to adopt safer behaviors in their own lives.

Nationally, a grand prize as well as first, second and third-place prizes in each grade-level division will be awarded, resulting in $18,400 in cash prizes. Additionally, the Automobile Club of New York and AAA New York State will award cash prizes totaling nearly $500. To download a flyer and entry form, with instructions on how to submit entries, click here.

Here's a page of last year's poster winners.

Deadline for entries is Friday, February 10.

Teaching Your Teens to Drive

Our research makes one thing clear--novice drivers need more training behind the wheel. The person most likely to supervise this training is a parent or guardian. However, to be a good coach, most parents need some help. "Teaching Your Teens to Drive" comes in both video and CD-ROM format. Included is a handbook with helpful information about each driving skill and a "contract" between parent and teen which helps set the family driving rules.

Cost: $26.95 plus tax for members, $29.95 plus tax for nonmembers (and $7.50 for shipping and handling)
