Best Route to School
As part of AAA's "School's Open, Drive Carefully" campaign, the Club provides teachers and parents with a handy one-page instruction sheet to help parents select the "Best Route to School". Parents are encouraged to download the form and then use it to review their child's planned route. Where possible, select routes with sidewalks, crossing guards or safety patrols. Teachers are encouraged to download the form and then to copy it for distribution to students, to take home to their parents. The forms are available for download in both
Spanish and
English

Discount for Defensive Driving Class
If a school wants to host a defensive driving course -- the AAA Driver Improvement Program -- we can offer a discount to school administrators, teachers and staff.
By completing the course, you (the principal operator) are entitled to a 10 percent discount on collision, liability and no-fault insurance. This discount is good for three years, which can be extended by re-taking the course.
Completion of the program also entitles you to a reduction of up to four points on your driving record. The course can be taken again after 18 months to reduce any subsequent points you might accrue.
If you originally took the course for savings on your insurance and later receive violation points, you do not have to wait 18 months to take the course to reduce these new points.
The six-hour course can be conducted in one day or in two, three-hour sessions.
Prices and Discount
The standard cost for the course is $35 for members and $45 for non-members. The discounted
group rate for teachers is $20. Information and materials from the course may be shared with your students. So if you have 20 or more interested administrators, teachers and staff in your school, give us a call at 516/873-2364 to arrange for an on-site class.
