Assembly Programs
Otto's Back!
The Automobile Club of New York is happy to announce the return of Otto the Auto, a friendly, kid-size Model-T talking car that educates children about the rules of pedestrian safety, seat belts and safe school bus riding practices. Otto, along with Mike the Bike, are used in programs presented by the Club's Traffic and Safety Department to children in kindergarten through third grade.
The program encourages children to be more safety-conscious when walking, urging them to be especially alert as they approach driveways, looking all ways and watching for turning cars before crossing the street and never entering a roadway from between parked cars. Youngsters are also encouraged to follow school bus rules and when riding in a car, to always use a booster seat with seat belts.
Last year, the Club conducted more than 30 Otto assembly programs in front of more than 6,400 children. Each child receives an informational card to take home to their parents, reminding them of the rules and safe practices taught at the assembly.

Concerned about aggressive driving or driving emergencies? Speakers from AAA are able to address students on these and other transportation topics. They can also provide important driving tips about using anti-lock brakes, holding the steering wheel and driving on ice and snow.
Do you want your students to know about new automotive technologies, HOV lanes or neighborhood traffic safety? The Club also works with the local chapter of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) to provide speakers on these and other traffic engineering and transportation topics.
If you are interested in having a speaker come to your school, contact
