For Your Community

Safety Workshops -- AAA offers several driver-training workshops to complement our defensive driving class. These workshops are available to businesses, libraries, community groups and schools, and are conducted by traffic and safety experts from AAA. Topics include: Handling Driving Emergencies, Driver Anger Management, Senior Citizen Driving Tips and Parents of Teens. To schedule a workshop, contact AAA Traffic Safety.

Bicycle Rodeos - The Club helps PTAs and community groups to sponsor Bicycle Rodeos. These events offer elementary and middle school students an opportunity to test their bike skills and safety knowledge while having fun. For more information, call 516/873-2364 or e-mail jfalco@aaany.com.

Free Bicycle Safety Kits - Each kit includes a AAA Bicycle Inspection Checklist, a reflective decal, ID card with safety tips and helpful guides for both kids and parents. To order a kit, write to: Bicycle Safety Program, Automobile Club of New York, P.O. Box 975, Garden City, NY 11530-0975. Enclose a business-size, self-addressed envelope with 60 cents in postage.

Programs for Seniors - AAA members over 55 years of age can take the Club's Defensive Driver Class for $25 on senior discount days at locations throughout the Club's territory. (The course ordinarily costs AAA members $35, and nonmembers $45.) The class earns the principal operator a 10% discount on collision, liability and no-fault insurance. Completion of the program also earns you a reduction of up to four violation points. Click here for a current listing of course locations, available dates and to register online.

We also have speakers who can address seniors groups about their special needs as drivers and pedestrians-at no charge. Contact AAA Traffic Safety.

Free Video Loan Library - The Club makes our safety videos available to teachers for classroom use. These videos are mailed to you free of charge; you are responsible for returning them to our office by the due date (the loan period is two weeks).

Latino Child Safety Issues - Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for Latino children

Safety Literature - Throughout the year, the Club makes safety literature available to our members free of charge.

Boy Scouts - We can help Boy Scouts earn a Traffic Safety Merit Badge.
